Why Does upper back Pain Start

For most people, upper back pain starts from a combination of aging, injury, or repetitive stress on the back. Throughout the course of an average day your upper back goes through a lot. There are many muscles in that area which control head motion, shoulder movement, and posture. Over time, bad posture and poor ergonomics take a toll and pain sets in. It is important to understand the true root cause of upper back pain is due to poor spinal alignment and bad spinal mobility which leads to the wear and tear in the first place. Many people try to just let the pain go away on its own, but that only allows the real problem to persist. Pain can come and go, but the real problem which caused the original pain is still there even if pain goes away. If the pain is ignored, other structures can become injured from the bad posture and alignment that was never fixed. If these injuries are not treated properly, they can easily turn into chronic back issues.

What Happens When You Ignore the Pain?

When upper back pain is ignored it can often progress into a more advanced condition causing worse pain and less mobility. Over time this constant wear and tear causes the spinal joints and discs to break down. The bone gets more stressed with less cartilage causing the degenerative process to start within the joint. This is what is happening in an arthritic joint and why it causes pain. It is a slow process and often the symptoms are vague at first, like occasional dull, achy pain and stiffness. As the joint degenerates further, nerve tissue can begin to get injured causing other symptoms to show up like sharper pain, weakness around the joint, tingling, and numbness. Eventually, these symptoms start to limit mobility and get in the way of doing the things you love. The best way to prevent this from happening is to get your back pain evaluated and treated before it gets worse.

I initially went in for upper back pain and after completing the treatment program, I feel like a whole new person. The care I have received was very thorough. The staff is awesome, they are all very friendly, and knowledgeable. I highly recommend!

TREATMENT OPTIONS

After thoroughly evaluating the information obtained during the examination, the doctor will design a customized treatment plan for you. Treatments for upper back pain may include various therapies such as:

  • Spinal adjustments to correct spinal alignment and posture issues
  • Neck decompression to unpinch the nerves and discs
  • Radial pulse wave (RPW) therapy stimulates blood supply and cell growth in the damaged area, leading to the regeneration of healthy tissue
  • Laser therapy to help reduce inflammation
  • Mechanical traction therapy to stretch the spinal muscles
  • Electric stimulation therapy to relieve and muscle tension
  • Vibration plate therapy to activate the muscles and nerves
  • Stretching and strengthening exercises for joint stability

Information about each of these therapies and treatments can be found on our website. We look forward to helping you feel better and elevating your health to a whole new level.

Our Chiropractic Techniques

Chiropractic Care

Our approach to Chiropractic begins with a comprehensive exam to look at the structure and the function of the spine. We have several ways to correct that through non-invasive chiropractic using things like manual adjustments, e-stimulation, intersegmental traction, spinal decompression, laser therapy, flexion distraction, thompson drops, activator methods, and more!

Electric Stimulation Therapy

Electric Stimulation Therapy targets the muscles in the treatment area. It sends a current into the muscle that ultimately helps it to relax and treat inflammation and irritation. Electric Stimulation Therapy is not a painful treatment and is extremely effective.

Radial pulse wave

Radial pulse wave (RPW) therapy stimulates blood supply and cell growth in the damaged area, leading to the regeneration of healthy tissue

Laser Therapy

Warm Infrared Laser Therapy is a great low-risk technique to treat chronic pain. It reduces inflammation and promotes healing and pain relief.

Vibration plate therapy

Vibration plate therapy to activate the muscles and nerves

Decompression

Decompression is a non-surgical and non-invasive therapy that can help reduce back, neck, leg and arm pain. It works by reducing the pressure on the discs and joints.
