ABOUT Chronic Inflammation

Chronic inflammation occurs when the body generates an inflammatory response that is greater than necessary because of an imbalance in the immune system or a condition that causes the immune system to attack itself. There are a plethora of issues that can cause chronic inflammation to occur including food sensitivities, lack of sleep, and continuously high stress. Some other conditions that cause chronic inflammation include Rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn’s disease, and multiple sclerosis.

CAUSES OF CHRONIC INFLAMMATION

There are a  multitude of causes of chronic inflammation with the most common being an untreated cause of acute inflammation such as an infection, an autoimmune disorder, which involves your immune system attacking healthy tissue, or long term exposure to harmful chemicals or irritants. In  our office, we most commonly see chronic inflammation linked to the gut.

We know this to be called leaky gut. Leaky gut is a form of chronic inflammation in the stomach and intestines that is most commonly linked to smoking, obesity, alcohol, chronic stress, and eating a lot of processed foods, gluten, sugar, and dairy. This form of chronic inflammation can cause joint and muscle pain throughout the whole body

Great atmosphere. Friendly staff that makes you feel welcomed.

DIAGNOSIS

A diagnosis of chronic inflammation can be done by consulting your doctor. Typically, blood tests will be done to determine whether or not you have chronic inflammation. Here at Blue Mountain Wellness, our doctors will sit down with you one-on-one and discuss your symptoms in detail and give you some take-home testing to determine whether or not you have chronic inflammation.

Our doctors focus on the three most common factors of chronic inflammation in the gut: hypothyroidism, overgrowth of Candida (yeast) in the gut, and issues with your adrenal glands. Schedule your appointment today with one of our highly trained doctors to determine if you have chronic inflammation today.

TREATMENT OPTIONS

Chiropractic care may be helpful in the reduction of chronic inflammation. Getting adjusted helps by realigning the spine in order to take unnecessary pressure off of the nerves throughout your body. When your spine and joints are properly aligned, your body’s natural biomechanics return to normal. By restoring proper biomechanics, the production of neuropeptides and cytokines, which cause inflammation, can be reduced. Along with chiropractic care, we recommend scheduling an appointment with our nutritionist to see if dietary counseling may be right for you as well to help combat your chronic inflammation.
