What is peripheral neuropathy?
According to WebMd, it is “the conditions that result when nerves that carry messages to and from the brain and spinal cord from and to the rest of the body are damaged or diseased.”
Symptoms & Causes of Neuropathy
The most common symptoms of peripheral neuropathy include: tingling, burning sensation in the feet or hands, numbness, and loss of sensation in the arms and legs. There can be many causes to this nerve damage in the body. “Diabetes, chemo-induced neuropathy, hereditary disorders, inflammatory infections, auto-immune diseases, exposure to toxic chemicals (toxic neuropathy), and poor nutrition,” are a few of the causes listed by the Foundation for Peripheral Neuropathy. The cause varies from patient to patient, but we must discover this in order to help the nerves heal.
